Apprentice

A member who is actively training in the fitting and fabrication of ophthalmic prosthetics under the sponsorship of a Board Approved Diplomate Ocularist (BADO) and is actively enrolled in the Education Program of the ASO.

Associate

A member who is principally engaged in practice as an ocularist and is actively enrolled in the Education Program of the ASO.

Diplomate

A member who has completed the Apprenticeship or Associate requirements and has graduated from the ASO Education Program.

Board Certified Ocularist (BCO)

An ocularist who has been certified by the National Examining Board of Ocularists (NEBO).

Board Approved Diplomate Ocularist (BADO)

A member who has graduated from the ASO Education Program, been certified by the National Examining Board of Ocularists and approved by the ASO Board of Directors.

Fellow-American Society of Ocularists (FASO)

A member who has demonstrated a high level of academic achievement and made a significant contribution to the profession and the Society. Fellowship is a lifelong distinction.

Ancillary

A member who is Board Certified by the National Examining Board of Ocularists.

Honorary Member

An honor bestowed on a non-member, inactive or retired member whose outstanding contributions to the profession or the American Society of Ocularists merit recognition.
